Untold Thoughts

Having stepped up from the get go to take part and watch “Together” grow from an idea, from an email, come closer to our reality, and turn into an actuality has been an experience beyond words. The moments, the thoughts, wondering if people would join into a unified group… It’s been quite amazing seeing the outpouring of of volunteer support in pushing promo materials, and the interest from local papers and bigger guys like XL8R magazine. This is also my first time ever taking part in coordinating such a mass group of events, and as the larger picture slowly comes into focus I hope that we set the stage for something much larger than we think, see, and know right now.

Untold BASSIC

I’m also proud to say that myself and my compadres from BASSIC are honored to announce that we have the almighty Untold (a.k.a. Jack Dunning) coming to Boston to break in the bassbins downstairs at the Goodlife on Feb. 10th. Untold is one of my favorite producers, and with releases on HessleHotflush, and his own Hemlock Recordings he’s been destroying it this year! His range of production combined with his unique, rugged, yet refined sound transcend down through multiple genres. It’s hard to categorize his music simply as what some would call dubstep. For those of you who haven’t heard about him here’s his offiial bio from Reprise with few links to some of his latests mixes:

With only a handful of releases on Hessle Audio, Hotflush and his own Hemlock Recordings, London based Jack Dunning has made serious waves already. An Untold tune is highly distinguishable; all compact bass lines that punish and clean percussion that clicks and drives instinctively; finding a balance between meticulous detail, deepness, and pure dance floor sensibility that is very rare indeed. Cited by BBC Radio One’s Mary Anne Hobbs as one to watch in 2009, Untold’s latest output includes his own new material and remixes for the likes of Milanese, Pangaea, Naphta and Toasty, forthcoming on Hemlock, Hotflush, Square Records and Hessle Audio.

We also have a very special event going on upstairs at the Goodlife as well. February 10th is also the anniversary date of hiphop producer J-Dilla. So in memorial of this great producer we have asked two of Boston’s best hiphop DJ’s to pay tribute to him. DJ Kon and 7L of the Bladerunners will be doing a special set commemorating Dilla’s work and life.
